Introduction to edgeX Background#
What is edgeX#
This tutorial will introduce the recently launched edgeX—
- edgeX is the first MVP product in the market, adopting an order book model, aimed at allowing users to enjoy the experience and trading features of centralized exchanges while self-custodying their assets.
- edgeX focuses on on-chain financial infrastructure for liquidity and trading, integrating the performance of CeFi with the security and transparency of DeFi, with the goal of building a complete on-chain financial system.
- The edgeX team members come from well-known exchanges such as Barclays, Morgan Stanley, Bybit, and HTX, and are currently developing multiple applications based on trading and liquidity.
Security of edgeX#
The edgeX account system is built on the ETH mainnet. To facilitate users, it supports low gas fee deposits on the ARB chain and cross-chain transfers of user funds to the mainnet for free through its own liquidity pool. Regardless of which chain users deposit through, the funds are ultimately stored on Ethereum ETH, maximizing the security of user funds.
The Next Hypeliquid?#
It can be said that edgeX occupies a favorable position; it is the only product that has not yet issued a token and offers an experience comparable to the current top-ranked DEX exchange, Hyperliquid.

Detailed Tutorial for edgeX#
Step 1: Email Registration#
Open the official website in your mobile browser. Note: You must use a mobile browser; the email input box may not display on a computer.
- Enter a commonly used email and click the "Confirm" button—> Enter the 6-digit verification code received via email to complete registration.
- Click the "Android APK" download link at the bottom to download the installation package and follow the prompts to install the app. iOS users need to download TestFlight first, then install the trial package.
- After installation, click "Connect" on the homepage and select "Email Login."
Step 2: Complete Initial Deposit#
After logging in, click the green "Deposit" button in the upper right corner to enter the deposit page. edgeX defaults to supporting low-fee deposits on the Arbitrum chain, and the platform automatically generates a unique wallet address, for example: 0x93c57911d2eE4B3cB9C12e31c3Be2f3eD71d52ba (user addresses may vary).
It is recommended for beginners to deposit at least $100 to receive a 5-point reward. Points are valuable and can be exchanged for token airdrops at a 1:1 ratio in the future, so do not waste your new user status.
Method 1: Deposit from Wallet#
edgeX is a decentralized exchange and only supports on-chain deposits. If you have a cryptocurrency wallet such as MetaMask, TokenPocket, Rabby, or Backpack and hold assets (like USDT), simply switch to the Arbitrum chain and transfer to the edgeX address.
Method 2: Deposit from CEX#
If you are new and do not have the above wallets, you can deposit from a centralized exchange (like OKX, Bitget) to edgeX. Refer to the article https://heiyetouzi.xyz/zhifubao-btc/ Register --> Identity Verification --> Bind Bank Card or Alipay/WeChat --> Deposit RMB.
It is recommended for beginners to choose Method 2, as wallet deposits involve cross-chain and cross-bridge operations, which are complex and have high fees. For example, withdrawing $101 from OKX to the edgeX address 0x93c57911d2eE4B3cB9C12e31c3Be2f3eD71d52ba takes about 10 minutes and is simple:

Step 3: Trade to Earn Points#
Once the deposit is credited, you can start trading. Set the leverage multiplier (up to 100x) and choose the direction (buy/long or sell/short). Note the risks: Although trading has point airdrops, you need to pay fees and may lose your principal, so avoid over-investing.
Step 4: Airdrop Points#
Click the "Points" tab at the top to view trading points. Points are updated every Wednesday (UTC timezone), showing the total trading volume for the week, points, and rankings. Currently, there are fewer users, and normal trading can yield considerable points (for example, 225 points, ranking 117), with fee losses of about $5, making it a good value.

I am a beginner and not very familiar with contracts. Does edgeX have spot trading?
Beginners are advised to try contract trading with small funds and low leverage. If contracts are not suitable, you can wait for spot trading to launch in February 2025. -
Can edgeX open both long and short positions?
You can achieve simultaneous long and short positions by creating a sub-account (Sub-Account). Switch to the corresponding account during operation for a good experience. -
Why can't I deposit to edgeX even though my wallet has a USDT balance?
Check if your wallet holds a small amount of Arbitrum chain ETH for gas fees. If not, you need to cross-chain or swap from another chain. If you are not familiar, it is recommended to use Method 2 to deposit from CEX (refer to Step 2).
